In view of its architectural features, its history and its geographical position,
the complex known as the Villa-Fattoria di Frassineto represents, from a historical
and artistic aspect, a particularly important example of the Villa-Farm type settlements
dating to the seventeenth century, subsequently modified in the nineteenth. The
ownership of the estate has witnessed a succession of illustrious figures: Vasari,
the Grand Duke of Tuscany, the Baroness Fiorella Favard de l'Anglade, Earl Sidney
of James (Gioacchino) Hertz, to whom the King awarded the title of Count of Frassineto.
The ownership then passed to his son Count Alfredo ,who in his turn bequeathed it
to his daughter the Marchioness Giuliana Citterio of Frassineto, who was already
interested in the production of white wine.
